This dark, sweet and strong lager is an homage to the original doppelbock beer brewed by the @paulaner Monks in Munich back in the 1600s. They called the beer Salvator, meaning "Saviour" in German. Today, you will see many doppelbocks around the world including the famous "ator" at the end of its title.

Doppelbocks are know as "liquid bread" as they are rich in calories and were the only things the monks were aloud to consume during their 40 day long fast for lent. So, because of this doppelbocks are usually a staple at Fasching, Rosenmontag, Carnevale, and Mardi Gras Celebrations across the world!
